The pressure the platform puts on price
TikTok pushes platform-wide vouchers, flash deals and free shipping thresholds, and participation affects your visibility. You can decline. Declining usually means less traffic. Premium brands need to decide up front how much promotional mechanic they will accept and price the range with that headroom built in.
The workable answer for most premium brands is a TikTok-specific range. A discovery size, a starter set or an exclusive bundle at a price that carries the commission stack without discounting the hero product your stockists sell at full price.
Creator control and brand safety
An open affiliate plan means any eligible creator can post about your product with any script they like. You cannot approve videos before they go live. You can report content that breaches guidelines and remove creators from the plan, always after publication.
Premium brands should run targeted plans only, at least for the first six months. Fewer creators, briefed properly, paid a higher rate and given real product training. It costs more per sale and it protects the way the brand is described in the feed.
Where premium genuinely wins
High ticket sells on TikTok through LIVE, where a 40 minute demonstration does the work a 20 second clip cannot. Furniture, jewellery, appliances and skincare devices all move in LIVE at prices that would never convert from a product card alone.
Commit to a LIVE schedule of three or more sessions a week before you judge the channel. One-off LIVEs perform poorly because the audience is built session by session. Budget a host, a set and someone managing comments in real time.
