Categories that need paperwork in the UK
Cosmetics need a UK Responsible Person, a product information file and SCPN notification. Food and drink need your local authority food business registration and full ingredient and allergen labelling. Supplements need composition documents and often fail on claims. Electricals need UKCA or CE marking plus a declaration of conformity.
Upload the documents in the qualification section before you list, rather than waiting for a rejection. Approval on a documented category typically takes one to three working days. Missing paperwork on a live SKU can pull the product mid-campaign, which is far more expensive than the delay.
Words that get a listing pulled
Anything implying treatment, cure, prevention or diagnosis fails. Common triggers are detox, anti-ageing, cures acne, boosts immunity, weight loss and antibacterial. Cosmetic claims must stay cosmetic. Say cleanses and hydrates. Never say treats eczema. The same rule applies to creator video scripts, which is where most brands get caught.
Also check the images. TikTok rejects listings with promotional text, prices, badges, collages, watermarks or another retailer’s branding on the image. Use a clean vertical shot on a plain or lifestyle background with no overlay. Move the claims into the description where they can be moderated properly.
What to do when the appeal fails
Appeals are automated first. Write the appeal against the specific violation code, quote the policy line and attach the document that answers it. Vague appeals asking for a human review get closed. One clear appeal beats five resubmissions, which look like evasion to the system.
Some products are simply prohibited in the UK. Vapes, nicotine, CBD ingestibles, weapons, live animals, prescription items and most medical devices will never pass. If your core range sits there, use TikTok as a marketing channel that drives traffic to your own site.
